Kolkata: 'Terrorist, destroy,' Jet Airways passenger detained after seen sending a photo of a masked man and threatening to blow up the plane

A passenger travelling on Kolkata-Mumbai Jet Airways flight was apprehended at Kolkata airport by CISF on Monday. The passenger J Poddar was reportedly heard speaking on the phone and threatening to blow up the plane.

Poddar was arrested after he was seen sending a photo of a masked man with a comment that reportedly said he would blow up the plane, the police said today. J Poddar was going to Mumbai from Kolkata.

J Poddar was detained by the Central Industrial Security Force and handed over to the police for questioning, news agency ANI reported.

The Jet Airways Kolkata flight 9W 472, going to Mumbai, was taxing on the runway for take-off at 8:15 am when a co-passenger saw Poddar posting the photo with the words "terrorist, destroy".


The passenger raised the alarm and then discreetly informed one of the cabin crew, following which the plane returned to the parking bay at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.

Yog Vedan Poddar is a Kolkata resident, was detained by the Central Industrial Security Force and handed over to the police for questioning.

The man's father reportedly said his son was simply "fooling around" with his friends.
