Karnataka Election 2018: Meet Karan Acharya, an artist who created popular ‘angry Hanuman’ image and was praised by PM Modi
You might be remembering a picture of 'angry' Hanuman being widely popular of citizens vehicles, windshields and t-shirts that oppositions giving it a communal angle, yes that image was being praised by PM Modi. PM Modi on Saturday also praised a Mangaluru-based artist Karan Acharya, who created the angry Hanuman. Acharya hails from Kumble village in Kasargod district of Kerala has created vector image in 2015.
Speaking at Nehru Maidan, PM Modi said: “I want to applaud artist Karan Acharya whose Hanuman portrait has captured the imagination of people across India. This is a laudable achievement and is the power of his achievement, talent and imagination. This is the pride of Mangaluru. All TV channels queued up for his interview.”
PM Modi also slammed the opposition for painting it an in a communal angle. He said: “However, the vector image has not gone down well with a section of the political arena, which painted it with a communal angle. calling this, Modi did not mince words to slam the Congress. “The Congress’ ecosystem doesn’t even tolerate the magnificent art of Karan Acharya whose Hanuman captured the imagination of the entire country. Unable to digest its success, the Congress tried miring it in a controversy. There is no iota of democracy in the minds of Congress members.”
Karan Acharya who created the viral image was thrilled and happy. And reacting to the controversy he said: 'It is not angry, this is Hanuman's attitude face. I'm happy to see my art everywhere.”
On PM Modi praising him, he said, 'I was both shocked & happy.”
Addressing an election rally here, the prime minister said, "Look at the Congress character...Whose Jayanti needs to celebrated with respect, from whom we have to draw inspiration for generations to generations, they can't think about celebrating their Jayanti".
"Veera Madakari and Onake Obavva are forgotten, but for the sake of vote bank politics they are into celebrating jayantis of Sultans," he said.
Karnataka Election schedule: Voting will be held in Karnataka on May 12. Counting will take place on May 15.
