Karnataka: BJP worker beaten to death in Udupi for allegedly transporting cows

A BJP worker was beaten to death allegedly by activists from VHP and Bajrang Dal on 18 August for transporting two cows in a tempo near Udupi, Karnataka.

According to local media reports, the incident took place after the victim, identified as Praveen Poojary's, tempo was stopped by as many as 35 men after he and his friend Akshay Devadiga were found transporting cows in the vehicle.

The miscreants reportedly attacked the duo with sharp objects. Praveen succumbed to his injuries while Akshay was rushed to a hospital in Brahmavar.

The police have reportedly managed to arrest 17 of the 35 attackers and are making efforts to nab all the suspects.

The case has been now handed over to Brahmavar police for further investigations into the matter.
