Eight school children were killed and at least 12 were injured after a private bus crashed into a van in Karnataka on 21 June.
The accident occurred when a private bus crashed into the Maruti Omni van at Kundapur, about 100km from Mangaluru.
According to local media reports, the children and teachers were on their way to Don Bosco school when the bus - plying from Byndoor to Kundapur - hit the van. Two children died on the spot while five others died on their way to the hospital. The deceased include children between the ages of five to 13.
The injured, including the driver, teacher and students are being treated in Manipal hospital. The death toll is expected to rise as some of the injured children are said to be in a critical condition.
The bus driver has reportedly been arrested.
