Kanjhawala Death Case: Theft at Anjali’s house; family suspects Nidhi’s role

In the latest twist in Delhi's horrific Kanjhawala case, the family of Anjali Singh, who died a terrible death after being hit by a car and dragged for several kilometres, alleged that thieves broke into their house and stole a TV and household items.

The victim’s family was informed by their neighbours about the theft.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, Anjali`s sister said, "Our neighbours first informed us about the theft around 7.30 am in morning. When we came here, we found the lock to be broken. The LCD TV and other household items, stacked under the bed were missing. The television is new. It has been two months since we purchased it."

The Anjali’s family has been staying with a relative since her death. Her family members raised questions on the role of the Delhi Police. 

The family also expresses suspicion that Nidhi, who was riding pillion on Anjali’s scooter at the time of the accident, was behind the theft.

"Why there was no police yesterday in front of the house? Police had been there for the last 8 days but no one was there yesterday no one was there. We feel Nidhi is behind the theft,” a family member said.

On January 6, police arrested Ashutosh, the owner of the car in connection with the January 1 incident. On the same day, another accused Ankush surrendered to police.

On January 5, Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Delhi Police Sagar Preet Hooda said that Ashutosh and Ankush Khanna were friends of the arrested accused and tried to protect them. The duo has also been accused of tampering with evidence and misleading cops who are investigating the case.

Five accused in the case - Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishan, Mithun and Manoj Mittal had been arrested on January 1.

Hooda said that a total of 18 teams are investigating the case. He also revealed that the vehicle was driven by Amit Khanna and not by Deepak.

"We are trying to file the charge sheet as early as possible. During the post-mortem, no evidence of sexual assault was found," the Special CP said.

Twenty-year-old Anjali was killed in the early hours of January 1 after her scooter was hit by a car that dragged her for several kilometers from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala in the national capital.

Police are investigating the case from all angles.
