Kanjhawala Death Case

The postmortem report of the Delhi woman, who was hit by a car in the early hours of the New Year and dragged for several kilometres, has ruled out a sexual assault angle in the case.

As per the autopsy report, injuries that occurred on the deceased’s body were due to the vehicular accident and dragging. The report also states that the woman was not sexually assaulted.

“Post-mortem of deceased woman conducted in Maulana Azad Medical College. Report states provisional cause of death as shock & haemorrhage due to antemortem injury to head, spine, left femur, and both lower limbs. All injuries occurred due to blunt force impact and possibly with a vehicular accident and dragging. Also, the report indicates that there is no injury suggestive of sexual assault,” said Delhi Police Special Commissioner (Law and order) SP Hooda, as quoted by the ANI.

The victim woman's family suspected it was a case of sexual assault and murder rather than a car accident.

Earlier, police arrested some boys for questioning who were seen with the deceased and her friend at the hotel.

According to the police, these boys had a separate room booked and the hotel staff saw them talking to the girl.

The hotel manager also revealed that the deceased woman and her friend fought in the hotel after which they left the hotel on a scooter.

"Both of them were arguing. When I told them not to fight, they went downstairs and started fighting, after which both of them went on a scooty," said Hotel Manager (the hotel from where the deceased and her friend left).

The police investigation also revealed that the victim was not alone at the time of the incident.

The 20-year-old woman was not alone and her friend was with her at the time of the incident, said Sagar Preet Hooda, during a press conference on the Kanjhawala accident case, adding the friend walked away after the incident.

A 20-year-old woman was killed in the early hours of New Year after her scooter was hit by a car and she was dragged for 12 kilometres under the vehicle from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala.

Police investigation into the case is underway.
