Rajendra Kumar Pachauri, the accused of sexually harassing a junior scientist from his organisation, The Energy Reseach Institute(TERI), has been removed as the Director. He will be replaced by Head of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency Ajay Mathur.
A Delhi court had given him a go-ahead to re-join his position at TERI. This had caused a lot of discomfort among the present TERI employees, according to news reports. They had also planned to write to the Governing Council to voice their displeasure.
The police officials have been making repeated pleas to the Court to cancel his bail. The court had earlier barred Pachauri from going to the TERI office at the India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road in New Delhi.
Pachauri, a Nobel laureate and a Padma Vibushan awardee, has been accused of sexual harassment by a woman from TERI. The case has been going on for five months. During this time, he has been repeatedly accused of non-cooperation in the case by investigating authorities.
