An infiltration bid was today foiled by the Indian security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to an ANI report, the security forces got alert after noticing some suspicious activity and challenged a group of two-three infiltrators who were attempting to cross the LoC.

The group immediately opened fire which was responded to in equal measure by the alert troops, forcing the group to flee back.

Recently, the Border Security Force (BSF) troops had foiled a major infiltration bid by a group of six militants after a heavy fire-fight using rocket propelled grenades along the International Border in Kathua district.

Earlier today, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called on Pakistan to stop cross-border infiltration to create an environment conducive for peace talks.

"Pakistan has to understand that the two countries share the border and to bring peace in the region, start a dialogue, the infiltration must stop," Mehbooba said.
