J&K: 3 CRPF personnel injured in grenade attack in Kulgam

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 26 September 2016, 15:10 IST

On 26 September, three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured in a grenade attack by militants in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.

Militants hurled a grenade at a CRPF party in Wanpoh area of the district injuring three members, reported PTI.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to nab the attackers.

The area has been tense since 18 September when 19 Army jawans were killed and four terrorists were neutralised in a terror attack at Uri military base in the Valley. The officials also recovered four AK 47 rifles, four Under Barrel Grenade Launchers and other war-like stores from the four slain terrorists.

One jawan was also killed in an encounter in Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir, just minutes after reports of an infiltration bid surfaced on 20 September in Uri.

The terror attack has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
