Chhattisgarh today became the first state to pass a motion supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's demonetisation policy of higher currency notes.

Chief Minister Raman Singh, who proposed the motion, took to Twitter to show his support.

"From abolition of slavery by Prez Lincoln to #demonetization by PM @Narendramodi ji, every country witnesses nation defining moments. The only thing common to these momentous decisions is the iron will, immense courage & righteousness of the decision maker #demonetization," he tweeted.

"I, along with 2.5 Crore people of #Chhattisgarh stand firmly behind PM @narendramodi ji, in this hour of national calling." he added.

He appreciated Prime Minister Modi for taking such a step promoting unity and integrity in the nation.

Earlier, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a surprising move and announced his complete support to the Prime Minister in the implementation of the scheme.

While addressing 'Chetna Rally' in Madhubani Nitish Kumar supported the Centre's decision of demonetisation and said this scheme will greatly help in stopping the churning of fake currency.
