Ahead of the monsoon session of the Parliament on 18 July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to all parties to work together for the development of the country.
Highlights:
- PM Modi addressed the media at the Parliament premises, ahead of the monsoon session on 18 July and said, "I spoke to all parties over the past days, everyone is in the mood to further development. All parties should work together to see to it that constructive discussions take place in monsoon session."
- "Hope the monsoon session observes high standards of discussions and that important decisions are made," he added.
- The monsoon session of Parliament is expected to be rocked by several burning issues such as Jammu and Kashmir violence, political developments in Arunachal Pradesh and also India's failed NSG (Nuclear suppliers group) bid.
- The Goods and Services Tax (GST) remains the priority of government.
- The GST Blill had been cleared by the Lok Sabha. Acording to the reports, most parties have agreed to support the tax reform.
