Heavy rains lash Bengaluru, boats on streets, people seen fishing on roads

Inclement weather overnight battered Bengaluru today with several roads and colonies being partially submerged throwing the life out of gear for the city dwellers.

Incessant rains caused havoc in the state as several areas reported water logging and flood like situations eve as people struggled cope up with the situation.

The massive overnight showers turned Bengaluru's formidable traffic jams into a horror story, including on roads near Electronics City, which houses Infosys and thousands of IT workers.

State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team have been deployed to carry out rescue operation in colonies to rescue stranded locals from residential colonies in Bommanahalli area of the city.

Fishermen, making most of the phenomenon, were seen standing on the roads trying to catch the live fish. Some people were even using bed sheets and blankets to catch fish.

Meanwhile, the Bellandur lake in the southeastern part of the city has not only been overflowing but has started frothing. The lake which has flooded the road leading to Yemalur Prestige Tech Park, has previously been in the news for its foaming and spewing froth all over the place.

The city is expected to get more heavy rains in the next 48 hours.
