Hanuman caste row: Former cricketer Chetan Chauhan claims 'Lord Hanuman was a sportsperson, caste not an issue'

Now, the politics over Lord Hanuman has deepened as the right-wing groups seemed to be divided over the issue and every sect has its own claim over the caste and profession of Hanuman.

Chetan Chouhan has said that “I believe that he (Lord Hanuman) was a sportsman who use to wrestle with his enemies. All the sportsmen of our country worship him as they require power and energy like him to emerge victorious. The players do not worship him because of his caste. There is no caste of a Saint, there is no caste of a mystic and in the same way, we believe in Hanuman Ji. I consider him as God; I do not want him to get associated with some sought of caste.”

Lord Hanuman was “Muslim, Jatt” etc. has now become a trend to define the caste or profession of Hanuman, who is actually worshiped by many devotees across India and has a special place in Ayodhya.

Uttar Pradesh CM, while campaigning in Rajasthan for the assembly polls had said, “Bajrang Bali (Hanuman) is such a god that he is a forest-dweller, lives in the mountains. Dalits, deprived, he takes everyone along, from east to west, north to south, and unites them all.”
