#Gurdaspur terror attack: what happened since morning?

In a tragic incident, gunmen wearing army uniform attacked a police station in Dinanagar of Punjab's Gurdaspur district, killing 6 and leaving at least 10 injured.

Here's the timeline of what all has happened-

> 4:30 am: four men hijacked a white Maruti car from the Old Pathankot-Gurdaspur road in Punjab, and fired at a passenger bus, killing three civilians.

> 5:30 am: the attackers opened fire at a police station in Gurdaspur district, 11 km from Gurdaspur city, close to the Indo-Pak border, and 80km from Amritsar.

> Simultaneously, five bombs were recovered from Dina Nagar-Pathankot railway track.

> 9:30 am: Punjab SSG moved in to secure the location.

> Death toll rose to five after two police home guards died during the operation. Army took charge of operation.

> The terrorists are still in the police station and the encounter is still on.

> 9:52 am: Home Minister speaks to DG BSF, D.K. Pathak, and instructs him to step up the vigil on India-Pakistan border in the wake of attack in Gurdaspur.

> 10:00 am: "We were hit by a burst of gunfire suddenly. I was hit on the shoulder. They are firing indiscriminately every five minutes," a Punjab police official, who was injured in the attack, told media as he was being taken to the hospital.

> 10:20 am: Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Trikha: "The encounter is on. We will be able to tell more only after it ends."

> 10:43 am: Heavy exchange of fire resumed between security forces and terrorists.

>11:30 am: The government is capable enough to deal with the situation, said Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office following a militant attack in Gurdaspur district.

> 12:25 pm: "Strongly condemn the terror attack in Gurudaspur. I hope the situation is brought under control at the earliest," Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said in a tweet.

>12:55 pm: Punjab Police SP (Detective) Baljeet Singh killed in Gurdaspur terror attack.

> 1:18 pm: Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the government will make a statement in the Parliament, once the encounter is over.

> 2:20 pm: Jammu and Kashmir SWAT team reaches the Gurdaspur terror attack site.

> 2:30 pm: Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that he will give statement in Parliament on 28 July.

> 2:40 pm: One militant killed, another seriously injured, says Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur, Abhinav Trikha.

> 2:56 pm: Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh condemns the attack, says such a situation is a cause of grave concern.
