After six years, the Gujarat Police have successfully resolved a kidnapping case of a newborn. The police were able to trace the abducted child to the town of Karjan, and arrested the couple who kidnapped him.

The accused couple identified as Kamlesh Oad and Nayna. They allegedly kidnapped the newborn from a community health center in Kathore village near Surat in 2017. The accused, Kamlesh Oad, is an emergency medical technician in the 108 ambulance service. The child was found living happily with the accused couple.

A local court ordered DNA profiling of the child with his biological parents, TOI reported.

According to reports, the child was born to Sufiya Mansuri on January 4, 2017, and was kidnapped just hours after his birth. The kidnapper had claimed to be taking the child for vaccinations but never returned. The child was the first son of the Mansuri family after two girls. A missing person's report was filed on January 5, 2017.

The police received a tip-off that the kidnapped child was living with the Oad family in Kamrej. Upon questioning, Oad admitted to the crime. The child was then sent to a protection home.

"We were alerted by an informer that the kidnapped child lived with the Oad family in Kamrej. We detained Oad and questioned him when he confessed to the crime," said RB Bhatol, police inspector of Kamrej.

Notably, Sufiya's husband works in Mumbai and her father lives in Kathore. In 2017, she had come for delivery to her parents' house.
