From Amit Shah to Rajnath Singh here's how leaders from BJP reacted to Sheila Dikshit's demise

Former Chief Minister of Delhi Smt Sheila Dikshit passed away later in the evening after suffering from cardiac arrest. Sheila Dikshit was 81-year old when she was admitted to Escorts Fortis at around 3:15 pm today. Dr. Ashok Seth confirmed that Sheila Dikshit died due to cardiac arrest after she was put on a ventilator.

Sheila Dikshit was the longest-serving Chief Minister of Delhi from 1998 to 2013 before Arvind Kejriwal of Aam Aadmi Party defeated her by a huge margin. Sheila Dikshit was a highly respected politician in the political cloud of Delhi.


Many leaders from the opposition have conveyed their condolences after the news of her demise broke. From Rajnath Singh to Amit Shah and Sushma Swaraj everyone took to their official Twitter handle to share their grief.

 

Sushma Swaraj wrote, “I am sorry to know about the sudden demise of Sheila Dixit ji. We were opponents in politics but friends in personal life. She was a fine human being. #SheilaDixit.” Amit Shah also took to his Twitter handle to express his grief and prayed for her family’s well being.

Rajnath Singh wrote, “The passing away of former Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dixit is deeply saddening. She was a tall Congress leader known for her congenial nature. Sheilaji was widely respected cutting across party lines. My thoughts are with her bereaved family & supporters. Om Shanti!”
