Fodder scam: Lalu Yadav, Jagannath Mishra to appear in CBI court in Patna today

A CBI court in Patna has directed 31 accused, including RJD President Lalu Prasad and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, to be present before it on 6 May in connection with the multi-crore rupee fodder scam.

The case relates to the illegal withdrawal of Rs 46 lakh from treasuries in Bhagalpur and Banka by the Animal Husbandry department between 1994 and 1996.

Yadav and Mishra are currently on bail after having served a jail term in Ranchi in another case of the fodder scam. The fodder scam relates to fraudulent withdrawal of around Rs. 1000 crore by Animal Husbandry department from various districts when Mr Yadav was chief minister of Bihar from 1990 to 1997.
