In a shocking incident, a boy threw acid on a schoolgirl in the national capital in broad daylight on December 14, ANI reported.

The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. in the Dwarka area. The girl has been referred to Safdarjung Hospital.

The victim girl's father said that the acid has entered in her eyes. "Our younger daughter came running to the house and said that acid has been thrown at her sister. Both the boys had covered their faces, they are yet to be identified. It (acid) has entered both her eyes," says the father of the victim girl.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) is taking cognizance of the incident and a team will reach the hospital and meet the victim.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Commission for Women has also issued a notice to the Delhi Police in connection with the acid attack and requested to arrest the accused persons as soon as possible.

“We have issued notice to Delhi Police to arrest the attackers & to give strict punishment to them. We're helping the victim & her family. But the biggest question here is why retail sale of acid isn't banned, even after several notices,” said, Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Women Swati Maliwal.

In Delhi, crimes against women are increasing, as evidenced by a number of recent incidents. Recently, police have recovered a highly decomposed body of a woman from a suitcase in the Punjabi Bagh area. The suitcase was found in a drain and the body was putrefied beyond recognition, cops said.

Aftab Amin Poonawalla killed his girlfriend Shradha Walkar, chopped off her body into 35 pieces, stored them in a refrigerator, and disposed of the pieces in a nearby forest, piece by piece. Currently, the accused is in judicial custody, and an investigation is underway.
