Delhi Lockdown: What's open and what's closed in national capital

In the midst of massive increase in COVID-19 cases in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that Delhi will remain under lockdown for six days, starting from Monday at 10 PM and will end on next Monday at 5 AM.

The announcement came as the national capital logged 25,462 new COVID-19 cases and 161 deaths, in the last 24 hours. The death toll in the national capital has reached 12,121.


Previously, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a weekend curfew in Delhi from 10 pm on 16th April till 6 am on 19th April.

What’s open:

1) Essential services will remain unaffected.

2) Home deliveries will be allowed.

3) Curfew pass for marriages will be mandatory and it will remain unaffected. In marriages, only 50 people will be allowed.

4) Medical services will remain open.

5) Religious places will remain open, but no visitors will be allowed.

6) Funeral related gathering will only allow 20 people.

7) People coming from or going to the airport/ISBT/railway station will be allowed with a valid ticket.

8) Manufacturing units working for essential commodities will be allowed.

9) Services of sanitation, water supply, electricity, among other essential services will remain open.

10) National sporting event can take place but with no spectators.

11) S tudents going for exam will be allowed to travel with valid ID proof.

12) Delivery of all essential goods, food, pharmaceuticals, and other essential services will be permitted.

What's closed:

1) Gyms, Spas, cinema halls, auditoriums will remain closed.

2) Private offices to remain closed.

3) Weekly markets will remain closed.

4) Water parks, amusement park, parks will remain shut.

4) Beauty parlours, salons, swimming pools will remain shut.

5) Festival related gathering will not be permitted.

6) Onsite construction will remain closed.

7) Delhi govt offices will remain shut.

During the announcement, the Delhi Chief Minister also stated that lockdown was necessary to curb the spread of COVID infection in the city. He further said that the government will take full care of its citizens.
