At a press conference, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman rebuked the Karnataka minister after having lost her cool on Friday. Sitharaman blasted the minister Sa Ra Mahesh publicly in a spat that was being recorded on Camera.

Defence minister got irked after the minister told her to wind up the press conference at the district commissioner’s office pointing to the lack of time.

Sitharaman pointed out that it’s not her fault if there is a lack of the time as she is following ‘a minute-to-program’.

Rebuking the Karnataka minister Mahesh at the dais, she said “I am following a minute-to-minute programme, minister. If officials are important, my parivaar (family) is also important.... Central minister follows the minister in-charge here. Unbelievable”.

On being informed that her reaction is being recorded, Sitharaman, who is a Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka, said ‘Let it get recorded’.

She also told mediapersons to record whatever they want when one of them told her to speak in the mic.

Sitharaman is on a visit to Karnataka’s flood-hit Kodagu district. The area has witnessed torrential rain and landslide over the last week. The emanating flood killed 17 and caused huge destruction. On Friday, Sitharaman visited relief and rehabilitation camps in the area that includes a camp that is run by the Rasthriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
