In order to ensure the dispensation of justice to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) is planning to study the status of implementation of important Acts including POCSO, Criminal Law Amendment Act, and the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.

DCW Chief Swati Maliwal has written a letter to Delhi High Court Chief Justice G Rohini seeking permission and necessary guidance for conducting the study.

"We intend to carry out a research to assess the status of implementation of the POCSO Act 2012, the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 2013 and the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 - for dispensation of justice to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence," Maliwal said in the letter.

"Crimes against women and girls, especially sexual assault and domestic violence are on a rise in Delhi. In such a scenario, an in-depth research on the implementation of the three Acts shall provide the commission a deep understanding into the problems being experienced by women and girls while dealing with justice delivery mechanism as well as suggest practical solutions to tackle the same," she added.

Maliwal said the research shall involve perusal and analysis of judicial files of trial courts for a particular period.
