Coronavirus Pandemic: PM Modi to address nation at 8 pm tonight

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be going to address the nation at 8 pm today on the current situation due to coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi tweeted on Tuesday morning, “Will address the nation at 8 PM today, 24th March 2020, on vital aspects relating to the menace of Covid-19.”


 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked people to stay indoors and follow the lockdown instructions seriously. Centre government also urged the state government to ensure that people don’t venture outside and also asked to take strict action against violators.

Earlier on March 19, PM also interacted with people and announced Janata Curfew in a bid to fight against COVID-19. During his 30-minute televised speech, PM Modi had asked people to stay indoors and work from home as much as possible. He also added that the world has never witnessed such a crisis and everyone is joining hands to combat the virus.

"Even World War I and II did not affect as many countries as coronavirus has done," Modi had said in his address.

Besides giving important instructions to citizens, PM Modi also lauded doctors, sanitation staff, airline crews, media personnel, and others for their hard work during this tough phase.

PM Modi also asked people to express their gratitude to them by giving them five-minutes on Sunday at 5 pm by clapping, banging plates or ringing out bells in their balconies or home’s main gate.

To battle against the virus, PM Modi also participated in a video conference of SAARC leaders to prepare a joint strategy to tackle the virus.

Meanwhile in India, over 500 people have been affected by the virus and 9 deaths have been reported.
