Temperature in Delhi falls to single digit, north India gears up for another deadly winter

The night of 13 December brought a sudden change in the weather in north India as a cold wave swept the entire region. The temperatures in most of the areas have gone down considerably with Leh recording the biggest dip of 12 degrees celsius in one night.


Some parts of Himachal Pradesh have started receiving moderate snowfall. As per MeT department data, the temperature on Monday was two degrees below the season's average.




Here is a round-up for you:


Delhi


  • The national capital has recorded an average 5 degree fall in temperature on Monday morning.


  • This stands at around 6.8 degrees Celsius as compared to 11.5 degrees on 13 December.



Jammu & Kashmir


  • Temperature in Leh plummeted to -12.1 degrees Celsius which is 7 degrees less than yesterday.


  • Srinagar experienced a marginal decrease of 0.2 degrees Celsius. The temperature stood at 0.8 degrees.


  • Lahaul and Spiti districts recorded minimum temperatures of -4.6 degrees Celsius.


  • Minus 3 degrees was recorded in Manali and minus 2.2 degrees in Kalpa.


  • Chilly winds swepts Simla as day temperature stood at 8.8 degrees Celsius.



Punjab and Haryana


  • Narnaul in Haryana recorded lowest temperatures in the area -2.5 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature in the area was 4 degrees below the average.


  • Also, Hisar temperatures went down 3 degrees below normal at 4.5 degrees Celsius.


  • Ambala weather remained within normal limits with temperature of 9.3 degrees.



  • Amritsar and Ludhiana recorded temperatures of 6 degrees and 6.8 degrees respectively.
