Coimbatore: 53-year-old man arrested for setting wife on fire

A 53-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife by setting her ablaze at their house in Ramanathapuram area of Coimbatore on 30 July.
Police said the accused, Dhandapani, and his wife Laxmi, 48, used to frequently quarrel over various issues.
Yesterday, they apparently entered into a heated argument and in a fit of rage, Dhandapani doused his wife with kerosene and set her ablaze, the police informed.
Hearing her screams, neighbours rushed in, doused the flames and admitted her to the government hospital here.
According to the police, Laxmi, in her dying declaration, said that her husband had set her ablaze and that he used to mentally and physically harass her for the past 20 years.
