CM Kamal Nath-led Congress govt in Madhya Pradesh in minority, BJP writes to Governor

The Bharatiya Janata Party has written a letter to Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Monday, claiming Chief Minister Kamalnath-led Congress government in the state is in minority. The BJP has also sought for a special assembly session in the state.

"We are sending a letter to the Governor requesting an assembly session as there are a lot of issues... It (the Madhya Pradesh government) will fall on its own. I don't believe in horse-trading but I feel its time has come and it will have to go soon," Madhya Pradesh Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Gopal Bhargava was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

BJP’s move comes a day after multiple exit polls predicted a landslide victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government in the Lok Sabha elections. An aggregate of exit polls has also predicted that the BJP is likely to win 24 of the 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh.

Last year, Congress dethroned BJP from Hindi heartland and captured power after a decade. However, Congress failed to mark the majority seats by minimal numbers and formed the government with the support of Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party.
