The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today summoned Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat for questioning over the 'sting operation'. The CBI has asked Rawat to appear in front of it on 24 May.
This is the third summon CBI has sent to Rawat. In the sting video, Rawat is allegedly seen offering bribes to few breakaway MLAs to bring them back to support the Congress party during the test vote.
Rawat has so far maintained his innocence and has dubbed the entire episode as a conspiracy to tarnish his image.
The Centre revoked President's rule in Uttarakhand on 11 May after Rawat proved his majority on the floor of the House. The Congress won by a margin of 33-28 in the floor test that took place on 10 May.
