On 8 August, the Allahabad High Court decided to take suo motu cognisance in the matter involving the 29 July gangrape of a woman and her minor daughter in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr.
The case will be heard by a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Varma.
Another petition seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the incident came up before the Lucknow bench of the High Court on 5 August. The matter has now been posted for further hearing on 8 August.
The horrific incident took place on July 29 when the mother-daughter duo were dragged out of their car on the highway and raped in a nearby field.
