In a one-of-a-kind incident, two 26-year-old twins, hailed from Rajasthan’s Barmer, died within hours of each other in frighteningly similar circumstances. One of the twins fell to his death from a house’s terrace in Gujarat’s Surat and the other twin died after slipping into a water tank in Jaipur after being called home.

Surprisingly, Sumer and Sohan Singh were 900 kilometres apart and resided in different states, but bizarrely died in similar circumstances.

Both the twins’ bodies were brought to their native village Saarno Ka Tala and cremated on the same payre on January 13, symbolising a tragic end to the happy coincidence of their birth as twins.

According to police, Sohan was preparing for the Grade II teacher recruitment test in Jaipur, and Sumer was working in Surat.

The deceased twins’ family said that Sumer was talking to them on the phone when he slipped and had a fatal fall.

“Their family reported that Sumer was on the phone when he slipped and had a fatal fall on Wednesday night. Sohan fell into a water tank early on Thursday, soon after returning home to the news of his twin’s death. We aren’t ruling out suicide in the second case," SHO Surendra Singh of Sindhari police station in Barmer was quoted as saying by TOI.
