Over 35 people were reportedly killed after a bus carrying 50 passengers fell into a gorge in Madhubani district of Bihar on Monday.
The bus was reportedly on its way from Madhubani to Sitamarhi when it toppled into a pond. The district authorities have launched a massive search operation and efforts are being made to recover bodies. According to reports, the villagers told local journalists that chances of anyone rescued alive is highly unlikely.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and said he was deeply saddened over the loss of lives in the bus accident.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed grief over the unfortunate incident and assured government assistance. The Bihar government has also announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the family of the deceased.
