Kumbh Mela 2019: Baba Ramdev’s big advise to sadhus about tobacco and smoking; know what he said

Yoga guru Ramdev has given a big advise to saints and seers at the Kumbh Mela about smoking and tobacco.

Yoga guru has urged several sadhus to quit smoking, He also told that ‘we follow Ram and Krishna who never smoked in their life then why should we?’


Baba Ramdev asked the sadhus take a pledge to quit smoking. He asked them that ‘why we cannot leave smoking when we have left everything including our home, mother and father for a big cause.’

He had also collected chillam from several saints and asked them to take a pledge that they will never smoke and take tobacco. Ramdev also said that he will deposit all the chillams for displaying them at a museum he will build.

‘I have made youngsters quit tobacco and smoking, then why not Mahatamas,’ said Ramdev.

However, the 55-day long Kumbh Mela will end on 4th March.

Kumbh Mela is the largest human congregation in the world as over 130 million pilgrims expected to participate in the festival with the belief that taking a dip in the holy water of Ganges River. Pilgrims believed that with the holy dip they will pave the way for their salvation and would rid them of their sins.

Moreover, the Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj, held twice every 12 years and hosts crores of pilgrims who gather at the Sangam for a ritual dip in the sacred rivers.

This festival is among the world's largest religious gatherings.
