Ayodhya: FIR against Bajrang Dal for conducting arms training camp

An FIR has been registered against the Bajrang Dal on 25 May for conducting an arms training camp in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

According to media reports, Bajrang Dal is charged with promoting enmity between different sections of society.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik had earlier defended the 'self-defence' camp, reported the Times Now.

Just a few days ago it was reported that the Bajrang Dal is training its party workers to use weapons to "protect Hindus" in Uttar Pradesh. Reportedly, the Dal was training its volunteers to use rifles, sword and lathis.

Media reports further stated that the outfit is all set to organise similar camps in various cities - including Sultanpur, Gorakhpur, Pilibhit, Noida and Fatehpur - on 5 June.

The Congress Party, on 24 May, had condemned the annual self-defence camp saying it was an attempt by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to polarise the situation in the state where Assembly polls are scheduled to be held next year.

"There is no use of creating this kind of environment in the nation. The BJP people will now do these kinds of activities everyday to polarise the situation as elections are round the corner in Uttar Pradesh," Congress leader Meem Afzal told ANI.

"Instead of trying to polarise the situation, they should work for the betterment of the country," he added.
