A woman from Kokrajhar district of Assam has accused two army jawans of raping her on 9 August night. The woman alleged that a team of army men and a policeman came to her house at 10 PM looking for her husband.

The army team left after they found that her husband was not present in the house at the time. But according to the woman, two jawans returned at 1.30 am and entered the house forcefully to take her away.

They took the woman to a school adjacent to her house and raped her. An FIR has been filed at Kachugaon police station and the woman was taken to the Rupnath Brahma civil hospital in Kokrajhar for medical examination.

The All Bodo Students Union protested against the incident and has called a 12-hour Kokrajhar bandh on 12 August. The district magistrate of Kokrajhar has ordered a magisterial enquiry into the case and has asked for a report from the sub-divisional magistrate of Gossaigaon in seven days.
