Andhra Pradesh: Gold coins surface while digging bore pipeline

Residents of Eduwadala Palem village got shocked after 17 gold coins, which may be of antiquity, were found while digging a bore pipeline in a field. The gold coins were found in an earthen pot. Another gold coin was discovered later.

The field belongs to Manukonda Satyanarayana in Eduwadala Palem village of the Mandal. Eduwadala was digging his field to construct a bore pipeline when he found an earthen pot. When Satyanarayana broke the pot, glistening gold coins fell out, shocking him.

The farm owner informed the Tahsildar, who reached the farm and collected details. In the presence of the villagers, the statement of the farm owner was taken, and the gold coins along with the clay pot were seized.

As per Koyyalagudem Tahsildar P. Nagamani, the 18 gold coins, weighing 61 grams, were found in the palm oil farm of Satyanarayana. The coins will be handed over to the district collector in their office and deposited in the treasury.

The district administration has also informed the archaeology department about the incident.
