Andhra Pradesh: 30-year-old medical student, who accused three professors of sexual harassment, committed suicide

A 30-year-old medical student, who had accused three professors of sexual harassment, has committed suicide in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district. She was pg student of SV Medical College in Tirupati.

She was found hanging at her flat in Pileru town on Tuesday.
In April, she wrote to Governor ESL Narasimhan complaining that she was being sexually harassed by three professors from the Paediatric Departent.


After that, the college constituted a committee in May to conduct an inquiry.

The victim fell upset when she failed in the post-graduate exams. However, she had told her friends that she was intentionally failed since she had complained against the professors.
The suicide shook up students as they are protesting at the SV College. They staged a sit-in demanding action against the professors.

Meanwhile, the victim’s relatives alleged that the inquiry committee report was not submitted and the accused professors told the media that the victim is mentally unsound.
They said the attitude of the professors had inflicted mental agony on her.
