Alert! Banks to remain closed for 5 days due to holidays and strikes; check to know the dates

As the bank employees are gearing up for another nationwide strike and the gazetted holidays are around the corner, the banks will be closed for 5 days in a straight row.

The strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on December 26 and another bank officer’s union has called for a strike on December 21 as they are demanding an unconditional mandate for the wage revision and the talks are not being held.


As per the dates of strikes and holidays, the banks will be closed from tomorrow, ie Friday until Wednesday. Although, the banks will remain open on Monday and due to all this, the banking services and cash withdrawal will get affected and lines in the ATM could be seen for this week.

As per the dates, the banks will remain close on 21 December due to strikes, on 22 December as it is the 4th Saturday, on 23 December as it is a Sunday. Although, on 24 December Monday, the banks will be open and it is a mere relief for the customers. Now, on December 25, its a national holiday on account of Christmas and on December 26, its a holiday as a strike is called by United Forum.

All India Bank Officers Confederation's Assistant General Secretary Sajay Das said, “We called the strike on December 21 demanding full and unconditional mandate for the XIth bipartite wage revision talks based on a charter of demands submitted in May, 2017. No headway has been made in the process so far even after 19 months since discussion on wage revision began,” as reported by the Economic Times.
