Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) worker Shankar Gora filed a complaint of sedition against actor Om Puri at Gandhi Nagar police station on 5 October. Gora alleged that Puri disrespected Indian soldiers during a television show.
Gandhi Nagar police station's ASI Subhash Chand informed about the case on 6 October.
Recently, Puri was part of a television debate about the IMPPA's (Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association) indefinite ban on Pakistani artistes working in Indian projects.
An FIR was first registered against the actor on 4 October at the Andheri Police Station in Mumbai by a person named Prithvi Maske, who has requested a sedition charge to be filed against Puri under Section 124[A].Also Read: Actor Om Puri faces sedition charges after 'insensitive' comments on Indian soldiers
The complainant alleged that the actor had insulted the Indian soldiers by passing derogatory remarks and that a case of sedition be filed against him, he said. We are looking into the complaint, Chand said, adding that no FIR has been registered in this regard.
