19-year-old MBBS student found hanging in AIIMS hostel

Khushboo Chaudhary (19), a first -year MBBS student, was found hanging in her room in the girls hostel in AIIMS campus in the early hours on Sunday.

The incident was reported by students in the girls hostel at about 2.50 am following which the AIIMS security and staff immediately informed the police. According to media reports, the body of the girl was rushed to the emergency wing of AIIMS where doctors declared her dead.

Meanwhile, Khushboo's cell phone has been seized by the police. However, no suicide note has been found in the room of the deceased.

Khushboo was a resident of Bikaner in Rajasthan and had joined AIIMS on July 10 as a first-year MBBS student.

According to a report by India Today, the AIIMS spokesperson Amit Gupta informed that the girl had been normally interacting with her friends till a few minutes before the incident was reported.

Reportedly the preliminary enquiry by AIIMS has ruled out ragging or any adjustment difficulties as she had been a student at the institute only for six weeks.

An internal inquiry into the incident has now been ordered by the AIIMS authorities while the police is also looking into the cause of death.
