1 CRPF constable dead as landslide hits Vaishno Devi Bhawan

On 24 August, a landslide hit Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, one head constable of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died in the tragedy.

Initial reports suggest many pilgrims are feared to be trapped in the landslide and a rescue team has reached the spot.

More details awaited.

Vaishno Devi was hit by a landslide earlier in the month too. Four persons including three pilgrims were killed and nine injured in the mishap. The landslide had occurred on Bang anga-Ardhkuwari road around midnight and the debris fell on a shelter where the pilgrims were resting.

The victims from the earlier mishap had been identified as 29-year-old Shashidhar Kumar of Banglore, 30-year-old Bindu Sahni and her 5-year-old son Vishal from Chhattisgarh, besides 32-year-old Sadik of Reasi who was a 'ponywalla'.
