Women vandalise local liquor shop, beat up drunkards

After repeated requests and insistence for shutting down the liquor shop opened in densely populated Karni Nagar in 'Nanta', women of the area decided to take the matter in their own hands.

The women attacked the shop on Wednesday and vandalised it, destroying all the liquor boxes. The salesman of the shop also fled, fearing the wrath of angered mob.

The step was taken because the shop had become a hub of drunkards who sat there all day and crowded the place which made the situation uncomfortable for women who passed from that area for their daily work.

Complaints were also made to the excise department but nothing was done to solve the problem. Before heading towards the liquor shop, women had protested outside the excise office situated at Chhatrapura area.

Women beat up the drunkards

When the women got to know about a room built adjacent to the shop for the drunkards, they entered the room and started beating up everyone who was present there.

Some of the people ran away but most of them had to face the seething anger of disgruntled women.
