UP Shocker: Retired cop kills self after shooting at his son twice

In a shocking incident, a retired police sub-inspector allegedly killed himself after shooting at his son at their home in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida, officials said on Thursday.

Due to the domestic dispute between the duo, the father opened fire at his son and then shot himself dead.


The retired sub-inspector has been identified as Bachan Singh and his son was around 35.

According to a report in Indian Express, Singh died at the spot while his son is undergoing treatment at a hospital and his condition is also critical.

The incident took place on Wednesday evening in Escort Colony near Railway Road in Dadri.
Vishal Pandey, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the retired sub-inspector Bachan Singh shot two bullets at his son, hitting him in the chest and a leg, and then he shot himself in the head using his licensed revolver.

“Bachan Singh died at the spot, while his son was taken to a hospital, where he is undergoing treatment,” Pandey said.

Frequent fight between son-father

As per the reports, the brawl took place due to the frequent disputes in the family. Bachan Singh (65) was an alcoholic and the father-son fight over some family issues. On Wednesday, they had heated arguments, following which Bachan took out his licensed gun and shot his son and himself.

Singh’s wife lives elsewhere while his son’s wife was there when the incident took place, reports said.

Meanwhile, further investigation is underway.
