UP Horror: Minor girl on way to school raped by man

There seems to be no end to crimes especially when it comes to women and children. In what was a horrifying incident reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district on Sunday. A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 26-year-old man. The accused, identified as Shahbaz, has been taken into police custody.

According to police, the accused, a resident of Mirzapur area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Mandawali police station allegedly carried out the crime when the minor was on her way to school. The accused allegedly enticed the minor to a dilapidated building and sexually assaulted her. The victim, after returning home, narrated her ordeal before her parents, Bijnor SP Dharamveer Singh said.


The accused has been charged under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused was nabbed on Sunday, and the minor victim was sent for medical, the SP said, further adding that the case is being investigated.

This transpired after a woman from Kerala’s Kazhakootam filed a police complaint against a 37-year-old ‘godman’, alleging that he sexually exploited her and extorted money and gold from her after taking her bare photos. On the basis of her complaint, the Fort Police took the accused, identified as Dileep into their custody.

The woman, in her police complaint, alleged that Dileep gave her ‘prasadam’ spiked with sleeping pills and then took her nude photographs. He later used the pictures to blackmail her. She alleged that he sexually exploited her and extorted money and gold from her. After her engagement to another man, she was physically harassed by him, she alleged.

In another incident reported from UP’s Muzaffarnagar, a 17-year-old girl at gunpoint was gang-raped at a village in the area. Following a police complaint by the girl’s father, the police registered a case against the three accused.
