UP: Couple objected youths for spitting 'gutkha' from terrace, attacked with sword

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, people across the world are following all precautionary measures but there are a few people who are still not taking this disease seriously. Amid COVID-19 pandemic fear, spitting in an open place is not allowed. But, a tragic case has been reported in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur, where two youths didn’t take this point seriously as he was spitting gutkha in an open place.

However, a couple objected to him then, instead of feeling sorry for what they did, the accused attacked them with a sword.


The incident took place on Thursday afternoon in the Loniyanpurwa area of Sitapur, Hindi daily Hindustan reports said.

The attack on the couple has sustained some severe injuries to the couple.

As per media reports, the couple was sitting on their lawn when the accused spat ‘gutkha’ from their terrace. When the couple asked the man not to spit in an open place then he attacked them with a sword.

The two accused have been identified as Golu and Kallu.

The incident happened when the couple identified as Rajeh Mishra and his wife Sudha Mishra objected two men for spitting near them when they were sitting on the lawn. Their conversation got heated arguments which resulted in the attack on the couple.

The couple claimed that the accused men first started showing abusive behavior towards them and also attacked them with a sword.

However, the two men have fled the spot after the incident.

The victim couple was immediately rushed to the district hospital after the attack. Police have now filed a case against youths.

"We have filed a case and launched a hunt to nab the accused," said SHO Amber Singh. Police are also scanning the CCTV footage of the area to verify the facts.

The attack on the couple also created panic in the locality.
