TMC worker killed as miscreants open fire in Bengal

A 35-year-old man lost his life and one person was injured after miscreants opened fire and threw explosives in Shibdaspur village of Bengal's Barrackpore. The victim, identified as Zakir Hossain, is a local Trinamool Congress [TMC] leader.

On Saturday, three miscreants fired gun shots at Zakir and vandalised his brother's shop before throwing explosives to terrorise the locals in the area. Zakir and Yusuf, who was injured in the attack, were taken to JNM Hospital in Naihati for treatment, but Zakir succumbed to his injuries.


As maintained by sources, there were three bullet wounds on TMC leader's body.

Locals suspect the involvement of the land mafia behind the killing. Police have initiated a investigation and are checking all possible angles behind the murder.

The situation remains tense in and around Shibdaspur police station area.
