These three kids beat their disabilities and cleared their Board exams

They did not let their disabilities hold them back. They didn't allow those who refused them admission to regular schools have the final word on their futures. Tapasvi, Vidya and Amol are among the children who battled against all odds - and won.

The three children hail from Jaipur, and have recently overcome their disabilities and social neglect to clear their Class XII Board exams.

In the National Institute of Open Schooling results declared on Monday, 6 June, Tapasvi scored 82% marks, Vidya 77% and Amol 59.2%.

Tapasvi Sharma

Tapasvi overcame from cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities to score 82% in his boards.

Tapasvi cannot write, due to physical constraints, and his papers were written by a junior class student. He managed 93 in history, a subject hardly considered 'scoring'.

With help from his mother, Manju, his father, Ajay, and his teachers, Tapasvi now wants prepare to join the civil service.

Vidya Dankhar

Vidya says none of her body parts functions normally, but insists that she'll march ahead. "I encounter new challenges daily due to physical disabilities, but I don't accept defeat," she says.

Vidya's father had died a few months before she was born, and has been brought up by her mother and uncle.

Unwilling to be cowed down by all these challenges, she appeared in the Board exams and scored 77%.

Now, she wants to make a career in information technology.

Amol

Amol is visually impaired, and has problems with the coordination of his body. But to him, these aren't problems, but challenges.

With the help of his parents and teachers, he has succeeded in getting 59.2% marks in his Board exams.

"I prepared for the exams by writing in bigger fonts and listening to my parents and teachers," he says.

Now, Amol is undergoing skill development courses to get a job like that of a librarian, so that he may become financially independent.
