In a horrifying incident brought to light from Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore, a 50-year-old man was hacked to death by his neighbour in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to the investigation, the deceased victim, identified as A Varadharaj had separated from his wife five years ago and for the last two months, he had been living in a rental house in Kangeyampalayam area.

In the meantime, his neighbour, identified as C Anandan, aged 33, was unmarried and was staying alone at a rental house near the victim's place. A comprehensive investigation disclosed that it was the victim who consumed liquor and poked fun at his neighbour.

Meanwhile, the accused had borrowed a stove from Varadharaj to boil water but as he didn’t return the stove, the duo got into an argument. Following this, the victim asked the accused not to come to his house else he will face grave consequences.

On Sunday evening, the accused got into an argument with his neighbour under the influence of alcohol. This did not turnout well for Anandan and he assaulted the victim with a chisel in a frenzy of anger. After receiving the stab injuries, Varadharaj fainted and died on the spot.

After his death, the house owner called the cops who arrived at the crime spot. The dead body of the victim was sent to the hospital for post-mortem and a case was registered against Anandan under section 302 ( murder) of the Indian penal Code. Following the complaint, the accused was taken into custody on Sunday.
