Mumbai Shocker: Three men molests woman on train

In yet another incident of crime against women, a woman was allegedly molested by three drunk men on board the Avantika SF Express train. The accused were nabbed by the Borivali Government Railway Police on Saturday.

As maintained by the cops, the incident took place on 10th October when the victim, with her husband, was travelling to Madhya Pradesh’s Indore. The couple and the accused were given seats in the same bogie.

At around 10 pm, the train stopped at the Borivali railways station. It was this time when one of the accused touched the woman inappropriately while the other two passed lewd comments, according to a report by The Indian Express.

The woman and her husband tried to stop the drunk trio but their effort went in vain. Following this, her husband notified other co-passengers, who then stepped in to help the couple.

The couple, after reaching Indore, approached the railway police with their complaint against the three accused. Following that, a case was filed under IPC Section 354 (outraging the modest of a woman). The case has been transferred to Borivali GRP, as the crime took place within their territorial jurisdiction.

Furthermore, railway officials were asked to share the list of passengers who travelled on the Avantika SF Express train on that perticular day of the crime. The police then zeroed in on the accused and took them into their custody.

An officer said the three accused, who work for a courier company, have confessed to having carried out the crime. The three were intoxicated at the time of the commission of the crime, the officer said.

This horrific incident happened a few weeks after a woman was allegedly gang-raped by some robbers inside the Mumbai-bound Pushpak Express train between Igatpuri and Kasara stations. The alleged crime had given rise to massive public outrage.
