Minor girl sexually harassed and filmed, accused absconding

In a horrifying incident of crime reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar, a fifteen year-old girl was allegedly sexually harassed and filmed by a youth in a village here, police said.

A case has been lodged against the accused, identified a Mohsin, the accused lives in an area which falls under the jurisdiction of Bhopa Police Station. Currently, the accused is on the run.

In a neighbouring district of Shamli, police have also taken a youth, identified as Shoeb, into their custody for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl in a village which falls under the jurisdiction of Kairana Police Station.

As maintained by the Station House Officer Premvir Singh Rana, a case has been registered against the accused based on the complaint filed by the victim's family two days back.

In another incident reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Anuppur district, a 17-year-old girl lost her life due to excessive bleeding after she was allegedly raped by a man who gave her aphrodisiac pills, a senior police official said.

The horrifying incident took place at a village which falls under the jurisdiction of Rajendragram police station, about 28 km away from the Anuppur district headquarter, on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, he said.

Additional Director General of Police, Shahdol zone, DC Sagar said this is a sad incident.

"Police are making every efforts to trace and arrest the accused and a bounty of Rs 30,000 was announced on his head,” Sagar told reporters.

The accused, identified as Yashwant Maravi, is currently absconding.

The accused has been charged with sections 376 (Punishment for rape), 363, 366 (abduction) and 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code along with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In the meanwhile, locals in the area on Sunday staged a protest at the Rajendragram police station alleging laxity by the police in arresting the accused.
