17 girls sedated, molested by school owner, principal over pretext of practical exam

In a shocking incident coming in from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar, seventeen class 10 girls were called to school and asked to stay overnight on the pretext of a practical exam on November 17. There, the girls were allegedly given food spiked with sedatives and subsequently molested by the school owner. The girls returned home from the school only the next day.

The girls were allegedly threatened not to tell anyone what had happened or their family members would be murdered. The girls come from a very poor backgrounds.


The horrifying incident became known when parents of two of the victims approached the Purkazi MLA Pramod Utwal, who then contacted Senior Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav to initiate a probe.

Until then, the parents had tried to get their complaint filed by the police many times but to no purpose, they claimed.

An FIR was registered against two individual, the owner of the school where the girls study and the owner of the school where they were taken for the 'practical exam' on the night of the crime. One of the two accused has been taken into custody so far.

A departmental investigation has also been launched against the Purkazi SHO Vinod Kumar Singh for his alleged negligence in the matter.

“He was sent to police lines on charges of delay in initiating action in the case,” an official was quoted in a Hindustan Times report.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
