Husband sets wife, daughter ablaze after argument over wedding guest list

In an incident, which came to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur, a woman lost her life while her daughter sustained burn injuries following her husband set them ablaze allegedly because of a disagreement over a guest list for a wedding.

The incident happened in Fatehpur’s Lilauli area on Sunday and the accused, identified as Phoolchandra is on the run, police said.


Sushila, aged 60 and daughter, aged 35 were asleep when the man trickled petrol over them and set them ablaze, Circle officer, Jafarganj, Dinesh Chandra Mishra said.

The duo were rushed to a nearby hospital where Sushila lost her life because of the injuries while the condition of their daughter (Guddan) is said to be critical, Mishra added.

According to locals in the area, Phoolchandra had an altercation with his wife over the guest list for their younger daughter's wedding, police said.

In another horrific incident reported from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, a woman and her brother-in-law were taken into police custody on Sunday for allegedly murdering her eight-year-old son two years ago.

The 8-year-old had gone missing in September 2018 and a kidnapping compliant was filed on the same day. The police have now taken the kid’s mother and uncle (Josna Patel and Ramesh Patel) into custody for allegedly killing the boy.

The family of the minor had lodged a kidnapping report at Viramgam rural police station stating that the minor victim had gone out to purchase sweets and never came back.

According to the Ahmedabad rural police, the victims mother had an illicit affair with her brother-in-law. The duo murdered the minor when he came to know about their relationship.

The duo, identified as Josna and Ramesh were arrested on Sunday, two years after the horrifying incident.
