Haryana woman murdered by in-laws over unmet dowry demands

In an appalling incident of crime reported from Haryana’s Palwal, a woman was allegedly murdered by her in-laws as their demands for dowry were not met.

According to reports, the woman had a fight with her husband on 4th October, as he demanded Rs 2 lakh from her. The accused allegedly beat-up the woman and hanged her to death. Following this, the accused ran away from the crime spot.


The deceased victim has been identified as Payal. A native of Sector 17, Faridabad, Payal tied the knot with Ravi who is a resident of Sihol village on 17th February, 2021.

Earlier on 4th October, the victim and her husband had a fight as her husband had demanded Rs 2 lakh from her. Angry when the woman rejected his demand, the accused allegedly brutally beat her and hanged her to death with the help of his brother, identified as Tony, his wife Poonam and mother Bijendri. The accused ran away from the crime spot after carrying out the ghastly act, News18 reported.

The family members of the victim stated that the woman was lying on the bed with several injury marks on her body. The cops visited the spot after they were alerted and sent the woman’s dead body for post-mortem.

According to the victim's father, identified as Bunty stated, "I had spent a good amount of money in the marriage and had given the dowry as much as possible along with the lakhs in cash, but Payal’s in-laws were never satisfied with the dowry. With every passing day, they started harassing my daughter and made various demands of dowry. "
